Head of Purchasing. Role Purpose: This is a senior role on the companies leadership team, reporting to the Managing Director. The purpose of the role is to directly manage the commercial function including the Purchasing team and to manage the performance of the metrics delivered. Location: North Cork. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Lead & develop the Purchasing team of 23-employees, across negotiators, commercial support, category management and food safety. Influence the development of all category propositions with ultimate responsibility for the creation of business plans for each category with the relevant category buyer. Implement the agreed departmental plan to deliver the strategic goals. Develop a range management process incorporating seasonal demand requirements in conjunction with the category management team. Responsible for delivering optimal performance and implementing best in class supplier management KPI's. Work with the team to forge & develop strong supplier relationships. Manage inventory levels in line with working capital management policies. Support the innovation strategy to identify new product sectors, retailing concepts and customer experiences. Manage the promotional process in conjunction with Sales and Marketing departments. Work with Finance on commercial insights to deliver added value reporting to the leadership team. Hold ultimate responsibility for supplier income management. The successful candidate will have the following attributes, experience & qualifications: Educated to Degree level or equivalent. Outstanding commercial acumen, ideally developed in the FMCG sector. Demonstrate excellent people management skills with proven experience of delivering results through team leadership. Clear track record of contributing to the development and delivery of commercial objectives. Hold a deep understanding of food & non-food categories. Possess strategic ability, people skills, communication skills & particularly the vision, integrity & leadership to fulfill this role. A high achieving senior retail professional with a minimum of 5-years retail experience in a senior buying role. Experience developing business plans for multiple categories.
