Clinical Nurse Specialist Respiratory
Clinical Nurse Specialist – Respiratory. (Under the Governance of Mercy University Hospital Cork CLG.) The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Respiratory Service) provides specialist nursing advice and support as a member of the interdisciplinary Respiratory Care team within the Hospital. The nurse will work in collaboration with the various specialist and professional teams within the Hospital to develop Respiratory care. He or she will liaise with other external agencies in anticipation of the patient’s discharge or transfer to an alternative place of care. He or she will have a responsibility to audit the service and to actively participate in education and research. Responsibilities - The post holder will be responsible for; •Undertake with the existing Clinical Specialist Respiratory Nurse a lead role in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the service provided to patients with respiratory diseases. •Attend and participate in Tuberculosis out-patient clinics, and become involved in the diagnosis and management of patients with associated disease. •Contribute to the implementation and running of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation service as part of the multidisciplinary team. •Co-ordinate the management of patients with tuberculosis and to liaise closely with MUH infection control staff and Public Health staff in the interface between early management and discharge to the Chest Clinic, St. Finbarr’s Hospital. •Care of patients requiring non-invasive ventilation and advise all nursing staff on their management.
