Safefood is an all-island implementation body set up under the british-irish agreement with a general remit to promote awareness and knowledge of food safety and nutrition issues on the island of ireland. our activities include: •promotion of food safety. •research into food safety. •communication of nutritional advice. •promotion of scientific co-operation and laboratory linkages. •provide independent scientific advice. •deliver consumer focused review. applications are invited for the following temporary position in our dublin office on lower abbey street: director of marketing and communications - temporary. reporting to the chief executive, the successful candidate will develop, agree, implement and lead the communications, education and promotional strategies that support safefood’s corporate and communication objectives. they will advise and lead in promoting a social marketing approach in relation to the communications, education and promotional activities of safefood on the island of ireland. as a member of the senior management team, they will have lead responsibility in shaping of safefood’s strategic development of policies in these key areas and work closely with the other directors to ensure that safefood gains acceptance as a credible and reliable source for healthy eating and food safety. the director will take lead responsibility in developing new communication channels, particularly in the area of social media. they will ensure that strategies contribute to maintaining safefood’s effectiveness in a competitive environment. as safefood’s corporate strategy is underpinned by a partnership approach, the director will build appropriate partnerships and collaborations with professional counterparts in the public and private sectors in both jurisdictions and at international level. please note that this advertisement is being hosted by the public appointments service on publicjobs.ie. the public appointments service has no involvement in, or responsibility for, the recruitment and selection process or the terms and conditions which relate to this post.
