We are currently seeking Material Handlers/Granulators for our very busy factory for days and nights. Days is Monday - Thursday 8am - 4.30pm and Fridays 8am - 3.30pm. The nightshift pattern is 8pm - 8am Monday - Wednesday.The training in period is by day for several weeks. Ideally the person will have experience in factory work although this is not essential. This is a very busy role with a lot of manual handling. The Material Handler/Granulator has the responsibility of maximizing production through supplying relevant material to the designated machinery. This position takes direction from the Material Handling Supervisor and Production Manager. There is a requirement in this role to operate in a fast-paced environment, read and comprehend specific job and machinery instructions, be detail oriented and quality conscious at all times. Some of the duties include the following; Granulation; Collect full cages and blue containers of scrap from the production area and take to granulation area. Ensure the correct types of scrap are granulated in the same granulator. Ensure the granulation area is kept as tidy as possible. Chnage bags of granulation. Weigh and label the granulate correctly and fill in the necessary documentation. Change the baler when full, fillin the documentation and wrap ready for collection. Return empty scrap cages to the production area. Ensure the scrap cardboard is put into the baler when necessary. Operate the fork lift in an appropriate and safe manner. To support subcontractors during the loading/unloading process if requird. Material Handling duties; Supplying machines with material which needs to be loaded onto machinery following the correct procedure. Supplying machines with cardboard boxes, plastic bags and pallets. To ensure designated work areas are kept clean and tidy at all times free from any health and safety hazards. Take extra measures to ensure the underbody of machinery is cleaned regularly. Ensure rolls of bags are kept off the floor and on the table. Monitor material roll usage on machine and notify relevant person when a new roll will be needed. Remove scrap from the machines put it in a cage or wooden pallet and transport to the granulator room. Scrap is never to be left next to machinery. Place completed boxes onto pallets as per production sheet. Take completed pallets to correct location in dispatch area. When an order on a machine is complete return boxes, bags and unused material to the relevant areas. Maintain quality by following established quality procedures. Housekeeping – Maintains clean and orderly work area by keeping tools and equipment in proper places and all materials off the floor. Performs other routine duties as directed by Supervisor. Work safely and ensure others in the department are working safely. Must be aware of and follow all safety policies, including personal protection equipment, housekeeping,etc. Responsible to identify, report any work hazards, must eliminate hazards within ability. Requires good attendance and punctuality. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision. To take pride in your personal presentation and report for duty on time as per the Rota. To adhere at all times to the standard operating procedures for machinery you are using and keep to these standards. To be flexible and adaptable in your approach to work and help colleagues whenever help is required, to work as a team to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department. To ensure at all times you take reasonable care of yourself and others and work in a safe manner to comply with Health & Safety requirements.
