Description

Construction Insurance Specialist required for a Leading Utility company. This role can be based in Cork or Dublin office and will report to the Insurance Placement Manager. The Construction Insurance Specialist will oversee the execution of the Group Owner Controlled Insurance Programme (OCIP). Take the lead in providing analyses on project and/or construction related contracts from an insurance perspective and inform the various business units of resulting insurance implications. Support/innovative insurance solutions to all business units on construction projects and provide technical specialist knowledge on construction insurance. Support the Insurance Placement Manager with the renewal, procurement and day to day operation of company's Insurance programmes. Duties. Oversee the execution of the Group OCIP in respect of construction projects ensuring that Group have appropriate and adequate insurance protection across its construction related activities. Manage and develop external relationships with Insurance Brokers/Underwriters and other Service Providers locally and internationally in order to promotecompany in the general insurance/construction/OCIP market. Responsible for completing a thorough analysis of construction project contracts from an insurance perspective while ensuring that the requirements of the OCIP declaration placement are being adhered to. Exercise judgement and engage with: legal, procurement, project managers etc. with regard to drafting of insurance provisions within construction and other various contracts and agreements in order to ensure the company is protected and acts fairly when engaging with its Contractors/Service Providers. Review insurance contract documentation in preparation for sign off by the Insurance Placement Manager in accordance with internal procedures. Ensure that the Insurance Placement Manager has full visibility of any changes that may affect our corporate position and provide ongoing analyses/presentations and other ad hoc requirements. Analyse claims trends on a quarterly basis and report the findings to the Insurance Placement Manager. Collaborate with Insurance Placement Manager on contract reviews from an insurance perspective and engagement on insurance contract clause amendments with Internal/External Legal Advisors in respect of construction contracts and/or others as required. Continuously develop a strong technical knowledge of general insurance covers. Experience: Relevant third level qualification and/or ACII, MDI, Dip CII Insurance Institute of Ireland/Chartered Insurance Institute qualification or equivalent qualification is desirable. A minimum of 6/7 years’ meaningful experience of Corporate Insurance preferably obtained in a Broking environment, In-house environment, Underwriting and/or similar role handling various classes of general insurance. Contract savvy, an in depth knowledge of insurance contract wording is desirable. Experience within the Utilities Sector or similar In-house environment with Construction/Engineering insurance knowledge is desirable. An understanding/knowledge of Owner Controlled Insurance Programmes/Project Insurances would be an advantage. Experience and knowledge of a self-insured environment would be an advantage.
