I am currently recruiting for a permanent Supply Chain Manager for a multinational food manufacturing organisation. The role will be based out of the company's Cork office and will report directly to the company's Senior VP of Operations. Responsibilities will include: Identify and contact potential suppliers for raw materials for the supplier quality approval process, using both global resources and local support. Serve as the negotiation lead for contract negotiations with identified suppliers, including freight and other additional transaction costs. As needed, ensure legal and ethical review of all raw material contracts to minimize risk of unintended consequences or concerns. Decide on key purchase timings & volumes to maximise competitive advantage to the business - taking into account factors like, inventory policies, cash flow, market developments/opportunities. Monitor ongoing contract /agreement compliance, and help to manage any problems that arise with quality, supply, forecasting, etc. Work with Innovation and Manufacturing functions to manage forecasts and inventory requirements. Where identified as needed, place purchase orders for raw material needs and manage deliveries. Maintain and document the necessary level of Supply Base Research to keep abreast of market developments as well as maintaining broad and accurate sources of market / benchmark data for raw material and freight costs. Provide supply and pricing information to the necessary business functions, helping to direct new solution development and manufacturing. Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements in the raw material and freight processes, systems, negotiations, and strategies. Monitor raw material forecast accuracy, provide feedback to help improve inventory and purchasing decisions. Using personal insights and proven tools, complete risk assessments and develop recommendations for supply chain strategies that achieve a reasonable compromise between best cost structure and best reliability. Communicate contingency strategies regularly, accepting ongoing feedback. Requirements: Demonstrated negotiation skills required, international experience a strong plus. Relationship builder – broad capacity to deal with different cultures and people effectively. Priority management – demonstrated ability to evaluate, communicate and adjust priorities to both respond to crisis issues and ensure focus on the “most important” opportunities. Strong system and data management capabilities. Demonstrated results orientation – “net lowest cost” inclusive of risk management. Strong written and oral communication required, additional language capability a plus. Food industry experience preferred, awareness of food safety and quality requirements needed.
