JOB PURPOSE: Integral role in the 3D Printing Development and Launch supporting 3D Printing Center of Excellence and the Materials and Surface Technology groups in the operation of the 3D printing development line. The development line is being set up to support end to end process development for new products that are intended to be manufactured using 3D printing. It is intended that the development line will be used to bring the 3D printing technology along with required post processing to TRL 5 and further develop process parameters to facilitate scale up to validation of new products either internally or externally. The successful candidate will provide the technical lead for the operation of the equipment working closely with 3D Printing Engineers, Materials Engineers, New Product Development Engineers and Quality. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES. The 3D Printing Process Technician will be required to: Operation of equipment on the 3D Printing development line. Processing of samples through the development line to aid process and material characterisation. Maintenance of Equipment. Support problem solving activities. Provide technical input to troubleshoot and root cause challenges. Generate and review process documentation including SWS, WI and TM. Partake in Test Method Validation activates. Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with GMP requirements. Support applications programming on CNC equipment, robotics, CMM and special processes. Design, develop and source tools, fixtures, gauges and special equipment. Support the selection, procurement, installation and development of new process technology/equipment. Generation and input into the asset lifecycle for new equipment. Liaise with cross functional teams in the 3D Printing Development and Launch Center. Partake and input in knowledge sharing activities and mentor new and existing team members. Development of cost analysis for new products and trials going through the line. Partake and input in design for additive manufacture activities. Time and capacity management of activities on the 3D Printing development line. Tracking, update and escalation of parts being processed through the 3D Printing development line. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA. 18 months experience in process/product development and/or minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment. Proven track record in completion of process development on a technical process. Proven track record to project plan substantial tasks within a major project. Proven ability to read GD&T on technical drawings. Proven experience in Root Cause analysis techniques and problem solving (A3 or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to receive and provide direction to fellow team members, contractors and vendors to complete tasks to a defined timeline. Proven track record working to GMP requirements. Self-motivated, with focus on Quality, Timelines and Cost. Ability and interest in working in an open collaborative environment. DESIRABLE CRITERIA. Have a recognised engineering/technology qualification to a diploma/degree level. Proven track record in the development of new processes and modification of existing NC or robotic code (Machine Tool, Robotics, Unigraphics NX or equivalent NC control software. Proven experience with CAD software and 3D printing specific software such as magics. Previous experience in the operation, basic programming and maintenance of CMM equipment. Proven ability to operate and maintain equipment such as blasters, Wire EDM, CNC etc. Previous experience in the operation and maintenance of 3D printers.
