A global Medical Device company in Cork has a permanent opportunity for an experienced Materials Engineer. In this role you will identify and lead direct Materials related projects and be responsible for applying knowledge of materials science and engineering to relevant manufacturing processes both external and internal to optimise end to end manufacturing strategy. The role involves providing leadership working with a cross functional team to develop advanced manufacturing processes for the implementation of materials technologies and innovative processes to build excellence in Materials Development. About the Job: Responsible for development and leading site specific direct materials strategy. Full project management responsibility for direct Materials project. Lead cross functional teams to execute direct Materials projects. Coordinates between manufacturing site and cluster Materials and Procurement teams. Lead supplier development strategies through close collaboration and creation of process improvement project pipeline. High level understanding of site wide Materials manufacturing processes. Development of advanced materials related manufacturing processes from end to end within the supply chain, including raw materials, process design and Optimisation. Implement of cost effective material-related manufacturing solutions to drive engineering efficiencies. Develop innovative product development processes to shorten lifecycle of product time to market. Develop innovative qualification methodologies to apply appropriate statistical and validation techniques based on overall risk. Conduct detailed product / process design reviews. Provide timely and accurate reporting on project activities. Ensure all activities comply with GMP, ISO and quality system requirements. Ensure that all health, safety and environmental requirements are fulfilled. About you: A degree / MSc level or similar qualification in a material science, mechanical or industrial engineering discipline. 6-8 years’ experience within a medical device company or similar industry. Project Management Professional with experience managing supplier relationship and development activities. All candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, have strong decision making and problem-solving skills and outstanding interpersonal relationship and people skills. Desirable: Leadership of project teams or people leadership. Experience interacting with raw material suppliers and/or finished goods manufacturers. Product and process validation experience.
