Revenue is the Irish Tax and Customs administration. Its mission is “to serve the community by fairly and efficiently collecting taxes and duties and implementing customs controls.” As a member of the senior management team, the Head of Medium Enterprises Division has responsibility for service provision to and tax compliance management of a nationally dispersed customer base. In general, the Division is a new division responsible for the tax and duties affairs of businesses with turnover greater than €3m and less than €190m, including Proprietary Directors; top Legal and Accountancy Firms and their Partners; Government Departments; Public Bodies and significant enterprises funded by the State purse; and businesses making distance sales into Ireland. The Division also has national responsibility for the delivery of the Revenue Technical Service (RTS), which provides guidance to tax practitioners and business on complex technical tax issues. The successful candidate will: • Have significant recent management experience at an appropriate senior level, including leading and managing teams in a large and complex organisation; • Be capable of setting the strategic direction and vision for Medium Enterprises Division; • Have a proven track record of significant results delivery, decision-making, capability development and leadership; • Have the capacity to organise and motivate a team of tax and customs professionals to manage a complex and varied case-base; • Have, or have the capacity to quickly acquire, a sound understanding of tax and duty issues, and an in-depth knowledge of tax and duty legislation.
