We are looking to speak to energetic individuals who want to carve their careers in an entrepreneurial locally owned business. This role offers longevity and is involved in the strategic development of the business. You need to have demonstrated people skills with an eye of quality and compliance, health and safety, sales and marketing and delivery of excellent customer service. The General Manager role is a new position and reports into the Directors of the business. You will manage the day to day operation of the business with hands on people management. Your key responsibilities include; creating a positive work environment, overseeing accounts and payroll, managing people, overseeing and implementing health and safety compliance, establishing and accomplishing business objectives through sales, marketing & efficient management of orders & staff and ensuring a high level of customer care. To be successful in this role, you should be a thoughtful leader and a confident decision-maker, helping their people develop and be productive, while ensuring the profitability of the business. Responsibilities. STRATEGY & DEVELOPMENT. Collaborate with the Director and staff on developing and delivering business strategy. Ensure profitability by directing and monitoring activities to achieve a satisfactory return on investment, profit margin and payroll costs. Ensure sound financial position by overseeing the development of annual operating budgets of costs and expenses. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT. Manage all HR and personnel issues and provide leadership to motivate people and foster teamwork. Advertise, select and hire quality staff and conduct a robust induction to integrate them successfully into the company. Implement a performance management system and hold regular 1:1 meetings with staff, providing constructive feedback where required, promoting outstanding staff and effectively managing underperformance. Ensure staff know their jobs, are fully trained across multiple roles, are rostered efficiently and are available for short notice back-up cover where required. Ongoing daily management of staff including management of leave (i.e. sick leave, annual leave etc.), interpersonal conflict, training and disciplining of employees. Delegating, monitoring and directing the team to ensure various tasks are completed ensuring clear and consistent communication. QUALITY AND COMPLIANCE. Work with the staff to develop SOP and work standards for all areas of operation. Ensure that all company policies, SOP’s and procedures are being adhered to by conducting regular audits, promoting adherence and relevant training. Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment. HEALTH & SAFETY. Be the health & safety champion for the company. Ensure a safe working environment by directing all matters related to personal health and safety of employees and customers. Ensure that all company health & safety policies, company safety statement and procedures are being adhered to by implementing checklists, conducting regular audits, promoting adherence and relevant training. SALES & MARKETING. Manage the 4 P’s – Product, Price, Promotion and Profit for the company. Liaise with the Director to set and achieve sales goals, aiming to consistently grow the business through innovative new income streams. Manage the marketing strategy through social media and other potential avenues, keeping ahead of the game and capitalising on seasonal drives. Administer order, pricing and stock management for the company, including identifying savings, increasing profit margins, keeping up with price increases and stock control. Assist with public relations to maintain the appropriate company image when required. CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. Lead the company’s effort to be the number one provider of our services in Munster by delivering a top-quality service to customers. Active involvement with Customer Service performance, issue escalation and training for exceptional service delivery. Ensure that good housekeeping is maintained, and staff are presentable at all times. All other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Proven experience as a General Manager or similar role. Degree qualified preference with 5 years’ experience. Experience dealing with both strategic planning and day to day operational management of a business (i.e. HR / people management, procurement, operations, health & safety etc.) High level of Computer skills required. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet, social media and other typical office applications. Problem-solving aptitude and leadership skills. Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationship with all staff and customers. Self-driven, results oriented person with passion, energy & a commitment to customer success. A strong team player with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
