Freefoam is a leading manufacturer of a wide range of innovative PVC-U and PVC-UE roofline, rainwater and cladding products for the building industry in Ireland, the UK and Mainland Europe. We are seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team based at our manufacturing facility in Cork. The Health and Safety Coordinator will provide effective, hands-on, operational health and safety management support and play a key role in promoting, increasing awareness of and maintaining a strong health & safety culture across all levels of the company, through developing, implementing and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for. Creating and implementing health and safety policies, SOP’s and work instructions in compliance with legislation. Conducting regular health and safety hazard inspections and audits, reporting on findings and following up on corrective actions. Carrying out accident & incident investigation’s when required. Formal recording and review of accident and incident data. Planning, supporting and delivering workplace safety training to all employees. Working with both managers and staff to improve safety in all areas of the company. Increasing safety awareness across the company, Ensuring that for any contractors coming on-site they receive a site induction, and that insurance and method statements etc.are in place. Acting as a key point of contact for any employee who has a query or concern regarding health and safety matters in the workplace. Working with the Health and Safety Manager to regularly review and update the company’s Safety Statement to reflect changes in legislation and work practices. Working with the Health and Safety Manager, and playing a key role in maintaining the OHSAS 18001:2007 accreditation and seeking certification to ISO45001:2018. Coordinate and prepare for planned audit visits for OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO45001:2018. Our ideal candidate will: Have a recognised qualification in Health and Safety. Have relevant work experience, preferably gained within a fast paced manufacturing environment. Demonstrate working knowledge of applying health and safety legislation, OHSAS 18001:2007, safety statements and safe operating procedures. Excellent problem solving, organisational and analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed to effectively liase with managers and employees at all levels and across departments and functions throughout the company along with a strong ability to influence change. Qualified manual handling instructor, and /or forklift driving instructor would be desirable. Be technology savvy and have proficiency with Micro-soft applications and Excel. Patient, confident, enthusiastic yet patient individual with a “can do” attitude. Fluent English and eligibility to live and work in the EU.
