Cork City Council is a large urban local authority with over 1500 employees across over 40 locations within the City; there are 31 Elected Members of the Council representing five wards in the City. The Council has an annual revenue budget of just over €166 million for 2019 and provides a wide and diverse range of public services such as, housing, management of the public realm, libraries, physical planning and development, community, culture and place-making and the delivery of infrastructure projects. Internal services include Finance, ICT, Legal Affairs, People & Organisation Development and Corporate Affairs. The Council is committed to increasing its capacity and capability for change to deliver improved public services. The Assistant Chief Executive will report directly to and support the Chief Executive in leading and managing specific delegated functions and departmental responsibilities, by playing a lead role for the City within a wide range of networks and by engaging positively with the major stakeholders in the City. This post offers an exciting challenge and unique opportunity to play a key role in the development of Cork City into a sought after location to live, work, invest and visit. The successful candidate will: • Have a proven track record as a strategic leader and senior manager in a complex environment; • Have proven experience in the management of teams and resources of significant scale; • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills and the capacity. to work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders in a constructive manner.
