County Cork covers a land area which is 11% of the Irish State and makes Cork Ireland’s largest county. Following the recent city/county boundary changes, County Cork now has a population of approximately 335,000 citizens. The Council employs in excess of 2,000 staff and the budgeted annual turnover in 2019 is €471 million. The Divisional Manager is a senior role, in effect acting as Chief Executive for the relevant Division, while subject to the direction and oversight of the Chief Executive of the Council. While s/he will direct and supervise operations in one of the three divisions of the county, the functional role involves taking management responsibility for county-at-large functions with an assigned reporting relationship from Directors of Service. The successful candidate will: • Have a proven track record as a strategic leader and senior manager in a complex environment; • Have proven experience in the management of teams and resources of significant scale; • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills and the capacity to work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders in a constructive manner.
