County Cork covers a land area which is 11% of the Irish State which makes Cork Ireland’s largest county. Following the recent city/county boundary changes, County Cork now has a population of approximately 335,000 citizens. The Council employs in excess of 2,000 staff and the budgeted annual turnover in 2019 is €471 million. An opportunity currently exists in Cork County Council for the role of Senior Executive Architect. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering a programme of architectural work and services to the Local Authority and provide advice and leadership to the teams. Reporting to a Senior Architect or other such designated person, s/he will deliver a programme of architectural work and provide advice to Cork County Council on all architectural matters. The successful candidate will: • Hold a professional qualification in Architecture that is prescribed under the Building Control Act 2007, or a qualification in Architecture that is equivalent to a qualification so prescribed; • Be eligible for registration as an Architect under the Building Control Act 2007 without requiring further assessment. Any appointment will be subject to registration under the Act; • Have at least five years satisfactory relevant experience of architectural work.
