THE COMPANY/OPPORTUNITY: A rapidly growing multi-national industrial apparel company (7 sites in Ireland and soon to be 10 following a recent competitor acquisition) are currently recruiting for a General Manager for one of their Cork facilities. My client supports a huge portfolio of massive clients across many sectors and are undergoing huge growth (both organic and through acquisition. The company have been Ireland for many years and have an excellent track record of retaining their staff and in continually investing in the growth and development of their people. The GM vacancy has come about due to the internal promotion of the current GM which is a testament to my client's commitment to staff development & internal promotion. In this exciting GM role, you will be directly responsible for a team of senior managers (production manager, customer service manager & maintenance manager) & ensuring the development and growth of a site that employs over 90 staff & that is already a very well organised and highly profitable operation! THE JOB: In this exciting & challenging GM job my client is looking for a dynamic candidate with high energy levels who is very commercially aware and has the ability and a track record of growing revenue, driving sales and both retaining and increasing the customer base. A background in production operations would be highly beneficial in this role but is not essential. What is key to be successful would be a proven commercial track record, P & L experience, very strong customer facing and customer retention skills along with an appetite to learn about production ops if you are not currently from a manufacturing background. Some of the key elements of the General Manager job will include: * Leading the Senior Team to ensure all KPI's are achieved. * Ensure Strategic goals are communicated out to wider team. * Recruitment and selection of new staff, ensuring all staff are properly trained and motivated to achieve the functional objectives. * Implement performance management via appraisals and development programmes. * Preparation and managing the site Budget. *Negotiating both with existing & prospective customers. * Improve and develop current operations to increase effectiveness of all site activities. * Being customer focused and pushing for improvements for existing and emerging customer requirements. *Growing a team and helping put a strong succession plan in place for the site. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU. Ideally you will have a degree level qualification in business administration/engineering or operations management but candidates with the requisite experience who aren't degree qualified will also definitely be considered. What's most important for the GM job is that you will have extensive experience in managing other managers, a background in change management and that you are very commercially aware along with a strong and confident personality. You will be a natural organiser/multi-tasker with excellent communication & decision-making skills.
