Description

Senior Buyer - Logistics: Cork. OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE: As a Senior Buyer Logistics you will be responsible for purchasing logistics services such as transport and transport related services. You will also implement, monitor, and control all logistic purchasing processes, to ensure the most cost efficient and practical solutions. Role and Core Responsibilities: • Conduct commercial negotiations with selected suppliers in order to obtain the best achievable commercial conditions. • Contribute to the implementation & monitoring of the international logistics procurement strategy in order to provide maximum service to the customer and to realize a maximum return for the company. • In conjunction with the Account Manager, evaluate the technical requirements of packaging (ISO-tanks, bulk containers) and transport requirements (road, rail, sea) of the customer. • Requesting and validating logistics offers in consultation with the International Logistics Manager and / or Account Manager so that suppliers can make an appropriate proposal in line with customer needs. • Research potential suppliers and keep an overview of current suppliers so that quotations can be sent in a targeted manner. • Preparing tender bid analysis and recommendations. • Draw up robust final contracts so that the agreed conditions are clear. • Follow-up of assigned contracts so that products and services meet the specified specifications and prices, expiry dates and indexations are correctly applied. • Manage Supplier KPI's and evaluate and review where appropriate. • Implement and improve logistics procurement & purchase systems. Interested applicants should have: • Bachelor's degree in Purchasing, Engineering, Logistics or Transport. • Minimum of 5 years to 10 years' work experience. • Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and ideally Moss and SharePoint. • Use of ERP (SAP) an advantage. • DGSA qualification will be considered an advantage. • Basic knowledge of languages such as German, Dutch, or French is an advantage (not essential. • Strong interpersonal and communications skills. • Commercial procurement expertise. • Negotiating skills.
