My client, a leading media company, have an opportunity coming for an Assistant News Editor to join a team in Cork. What you will be doing: Coordinating on a day-to-day basis closely with reporters and editors on desks across the newsroom who are contributing to projects, including editing contributions from journalists on those desks. Participating in reviews of data and test results to inform future editorial strategy. Prototyping new story forms for tests with readers. Coordinating visuals, working with illustrators, photo editors and photographers. What you need to succeed: Three years experience working in a news media organization. Enjoy working on a range of subjects and be capable of working in storyforms new and old. have the technical agility to master several publishing systems. Excellent reporting, writing or editing skills, as well as strong news judgment. Understanding of mobile and digital trends. Willingness to occasionally work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the news cycle. Excellent communication skills.
