Cork City Council is a large urban local authority with over 1500 employees across over 40 locations. The City Council provides a wide and diverse range of public services such as housing, management of the public realm, libraries, physical planning and development, community, culture and place-making and the delivery of infrastructure projects.  Cork City Fire and Building Control Department ensures adequate fire safety in buildings and other structures by enforcing relevant building control and fire safety legislation alongside the delivery of fire prevention strategies and education.  An opportunity now exists in Cork City Council for the position of Senior Executive Fire Prevention Officer. Reporting to the Chief Fire Officer, or such designated persons as may be assigned from time to time, the Senior Executive Fire Prevention Officer will lead a team within the Fire Prevention Section. This role is a senior management position within Cork City Fire and Building Control Department and involves the management of staff. He/she will also be required at times to work independently on his/her own initiative as circumstances demand.  The successful candidate will: • Hold a recognised degree (level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications) in engineering or architecture or a recognised degree in the final examination for which they obtained a pass in chemistry or physics taken at honours level, or a qualification equivalent to one of these; • Have satisfactory relevant training and experience, and; • Have satisfactory experience in administration and management, including the control and discipline of staff.
