A Mechanical Design Engineer is required for our Cork based client - a world leader in the design and manufacture of specialist illumination systems for industrial applications. This would be an initial contract role ( min 6 months). Please contact Diarmuid Buckley for further details. THE ROLE: * Development of mechanical concepts and designs for products, tooling and production test equipment (mechanical models and associated drawings, specifications etc.) * Prototyping, testing and validation of products. * Liaison with customers, suppliers and production. * Providing technical support to sales, marketing and production. * Manage design to development and manufacture projects. REQUIREMENTS. * Third-level qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (e.g. product design or manufacturing. * 3 years + experience with CAD packages (preferably Solid Works) along with knowledge of standard machining/manufacturing processes. * Knowledge or experience in thermal analysis, optics, PCB design, microelectronic packaging, electronics or machine vision would be an advantage. * Innovative, practical problem-solver and a good communicator, capable of working on their own initiative in a multidisciplinary team environment.
