  Chef / Cook Responsible To: Director Of Nursing Reports To: Director Of Nursing Line-Management: Director Of Nursing Role:    To Support Operational Management Of Oaklodge Nursing Home. Job Summary The Post Holder Will Liaise With The Ceo, Don, Clinical Team, Staff, Residents In A Courteous, Professional Manner. They Will Provide A High-Quality Catering Service For Our Residents, While Supervising The Catering Area And Those Who Work In Or Enter Those Areas To Ensure The Continuous Provision Of High Standards In Working Practices. Privacy, Dignity And All The Basic Values That Underpin A Good Quality Of Life Will Be Maintained At All Times And He/she Will Work As Part Of The Team In the home. The Post Holder Will Abide By All Policies And Procedures Laid Down By The Home Which Have Been Developed On Evidence Based Nursing And Legislative Guidelines. Main Duties And Responsibilities. Up To Date Haccp Qualification And A Genuine Passion For Home Cooking & Baking. Experience Of Working In A Busy Kitchen In A Healthcare Setting And Providing A Variety Of Nutritious Meals To Individuals With Different Nutritional Needs, Including Modified Diets. Experience Cooking Hot Meals I.e. Joints, Soups, Potatoes Etc. And Home Baking To Include Breads And Cakes. Ideally The Successful Candidate Will Have A Recognized Qualification In Food Preparation And Presentation. Previous Experience As A Chef In A Nursing Home Or Healthcare Setting. He/she Will Be Passionate About Providing High Quality Food That Is Nutritious, Well Presented And Meets The Needs Of A Variety Of Diets And Tastes. Prepare An Annual Catering Services Budget Ensuring A Cost Effective Service In All Areas Of Equipment And Renewals. Procurement Of Supplies From Our Approved Suppliers List. Check All Goods Received Against Invoice/order Book And To Sign Off As Checked And Correct. The Delegation And Motivation Of Catering Assistants, And Cleaning Staff In The Kitchen To Ensure The Kitchen, Stores And Dining Areas, And Any Other Nominated Areas Are Maintained To As High A Standard As Expected By The Home. Investigating Any Discrepancies In Stock And Report Any Such Discrepancies   Ensuring All Haccp Documentation Is Recorded Accurately And Filed In The Haccp File Accordingly. Liaise With Maintenance To Ensure The Safe Maintenance Of Equipment And Recording Of Any Such Requests In The Maintenance Requests Book Held At Reception. To Have An In-Depth Knowledge Of And To Ensure All Activities Are Carried Out In Accordance With The Health, Welfare & Safety At Work Act 1989. To Undertake Further Training As Deemed Necessary, To Ensure The Continuous Development Of Yourself, Your Team And The Services On Offer. Any Other Duties Deemed Reasonable As Requested By Pic. Professionalism/codes Of Conduct To Behave Always In A Manner Which Promotes Good Working Relationships Between All Members Of The Homes Team. To Show Courtesy And Respect In All Communications Between Management, Colleagues, Residents And Relatives. To Behave In A Manner So As To Uphold And Enforce The Philosophy Statement Of The Nursing Home.  ie: Compassion, Respect, Justice, Honesty And Equality. Supervision Of Team Member’S. Support The Appraisal Process   Support Team To Meet Performance Expectations. Approve Working Hours In Consultation With Person Responsible For Rosters. Organise Workflow And Ensure That Employees Understand Their Duties Or Delegated Tasks. Be The First Point Of Contact For All Grievances. Monitor Employee’S Performance And Provide Constructive Feedback And Coaching –  Support Underperformers In-Line With Disciplinary Policy.  Carry Out Training Specific To The Role Of Hca  Carry Out Induction For New Hires. Attend Weekly Team Lead Meetings With Adon And Monthly Senior Department Meetings  Carryout Regular Audits As Directed By Line-Manager. Liaise With Hr And Finance When Necessary, To Support Staff. General Responsibilities. The Post Holder Must Be Conversant With, And Implement, All Policies / Procedures / Guidelines / Standards As Laid Down By The Nursing Home. The Post Holder Must Have An Awareness Of Philosophy Of The Nursing Home. The Post Holder Will Be Expected To Comply With The Nursing Homes Dress Code, Which May Be Amended From Time To Time. Gifts Or Money Must Not Be Accepted From Patients Or Family Members At Any Time. The Post Holder Must Practise Economy At All Times In The Use Of Supplies, Equipment, Materials, Heating And Lighting. The Post Holder Must Respect Confidential Information Obtained In The Course Of Care Duties And Refrain From Disclosing Such Information Without The Consent Of The Patient Or Person Entitled To Act On Their Behalf, Except Where Disclosure Is Required By Law Or Is Necessary In The Public Interest. The Post Holder Will Be Required To: Report Any Incidents/accidents And Complaints Immediately & Record Appropriately. Work In Accordance With Any Regulations Pertinent To The Running Of The Home. Attend Any In-Service Training Programmes. Participate In An Induction Programme. Participate In An Appraisal Programme. Attend Meetings As Required By The Don. Performance Review The Post Holder Is Subject To An Appraisal.  the Timeframe Is At The Discretion Of Management.
