Position Summary   The INFANT Research Centre was established in 2013 and is dedicated to maternal and child health research. The overarching vision of INFANT is to advance maternal and child health translational research and to place Ireland to the forefront of this field. INFANT is hosted by University College Cork (UCC), co-located in CUH and CUMH and is focused on delivering scientific excellence and impact through a range of activities in academic, translational and commercial areas. The INFANT team is a diverse group of clinicians, scientists, engineers who are supported by selected industry partners, international collaborators and business and regulatory advisors. INFANT has over 100 staff, a funding portfolio of over €45M and collaborates with over 40 industry partners and over 50 international academic Institutions. The Centre is funded by a range of national and international funding agencies, EU, industry and philanthropy.  INFANT Research Centre is now accepting applications for a Research Support Officer- Administration (Senior Programme Manager), supporting a range of research studies including the c4c programme portfolio.  Conect4children (collaborative network for European clinical trials for children - c4c) is a pan-European network that aims to build capacity for the management of multinational paediatric clinical trials across Europe whilst ensuring the voices of children, young people and their families are heard. c4c is a large public-private partnership, funded under IMI2, one of the largest public-private partnerships in health and life sciences in the world. The programme is scaling up the trials that it will run across Europe and a number of clinical trials are due to commence in clinical sites in Ireland. The senior programme manager will be responsible day-to-day coordination, site contracts, reporting and budget management. Engaging with senior stakeholders from academia, clinical sites, industry and beneficiaries in the c4c consortium will be a key part of the role, as well as liaising with the national hub and national sites. Supporting the in4kids and c4c Network generally and communication platforms in particular will also form part of this role.  INFANT seeks a dynamic, innovative and committed Senior Programme Manager to manage the c4c project responsibilities of INFANT/UCC. This will involve work across all study sites and to co-ordinate national communications to promote paediatric research in Ireland. The post holder will provide administrative support to the project PI and work closely with other team members to provide general administrative support for all project activities. The Senior Programme Manager will be required to have extensive contracting, reporting, website maintenance, clinical research, data management and budget management skills.  This is a full time post but an appointment at 0.8 FTE may also be considered. Project Title: c4c Project. Post Duration: 2 years. Salary: €60,000 p.a. (Personal Rate), pro rata, FTE dependent. Role Summary. Provision of high level administrative support in a complex research environment consisting of many interdisciplinary programme grants and multiple Principal Investigators is often associated with research expertise in the relevant research area. Key Duties and Responsibilities. Administration. To support the Director or Head of the Research area to achieve the agreed strategic and administrative goals of the research area. To provide an effective administrative framework to support the ongoing development of the research project/area. To advise the Director/Head of the Research area of appropriate administrative structures and procedures to give effect to agreed and approved policies. To be responsible for the development and implementation of positive and appropriate administrative work practices. To implement agreed policy and procedures including administration, personnel, and resources for the overall development of the research project/area. To manage the secretarial/administrative functions as required. To allocate, delegate and supervise work of the administrative staff, as is appropriate, ensuring its effective operation. Research. To provide specific technical inputs to the research agenda such as literature review, data analysis and preparing reports. Writing and contributing to research reports, policy briefs and other documents. To support activities of the research project as required, such as assisting in workshops, producing written outputs, in conjunction with the Director/Head of the Research area. Policy advice and dissemination. To present research results internally and externally at conferences, meetings, including preparing presentations. To disseminate research results through web pages, media conferences etc. To represent the research project/area at events, meetings and networking. Finance. To administer financial and budgetary functions, including purchasing and cost controls in consumables, equipment’s and part-time pay, in conjunction with the Director/Head of the Research area. To support researchers in the preparation of project proposals. Review and monitor the financial of all research grants and the overall research area. To propose strategic or operational priorities and to advise on achieving the effective and value-for-money allocation of budgets and resources. To ensure proper use of resources, compliance and integrity of systems in accordance with University policies, procedures and standards and in agreement with the Director/Head of the Research area. Promotion/Development. To assist the Director/Head of the Research area with logistical planning of human, physical and financial requirements for the research project. To identify opportunities for external relationships and collaboration. To contribute to the development of the strong external links to business and industry. To contribute to the promotion and marketing of the research area. To produce, when required, appropriate promotional and marketing literature. Personnel. To assist with the preparation of recruitment advertisements and job particulars for posts within the research area. To assist with managing the administrative workloads to support the research project/area. To liaise with HR as required regarding on research staff personal details and/or terms and conditions of employments for research staff contracts.   The list of duties detailed above is not intended to be exclusive or restrictive and may be adjusted dependent on the area of research. Essential Criteria. A postgraduate qualification in a field or discipline relevant to the area of investigation i.e. MSc or PhD. required. Extensive experience in clinical research Project Management required. Co-ordination of multi-centre large scale collaborative research programmes. Proven experience in clinical governance, data collection, and quality control of Clinical Research.   Experience in clinical study/trial management.  Knowledge and experience of contract negotiation in research environment  Familiarity with ethical and regulatory submissions in different jurisdictions. Required. Extensive experience in project budget management. Required. Knowledge of, and proven experience in, recruitment strategies for clinical trials. Knowledge of study monitoring, design and implementation of monitoring plans. Ability to meet project deliverables and milestones and where necessary, implement strategies to address delays and/or make necessary changes to project timelines. Required. Experience in website design, website hosting platforms and website management.  Proven experience of providing high level administrative support to a research project or in a research area. Demonstrable achievements in delivering results on a research project or in a research area. Ability to interact with stakeholders from a range of disciplines. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent report writing and presentation skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Very strong IT, report writing and organizational skills.
